LETTER: We should learn from sacrifice

As I sit here by the Ifield Village War Memorial, reading the inscription ‘Pro Rege Pro Patria’ - For King and Country - and a list of 32 parishioners who sacrificed their lives in WW1 (Memory Lane WSCT, September 4), I can’t help but wonder if these 32 would not just want us to remember them, but also would want us to learn - by their sacrifice - how to resolve conflict without war.
