LETTER: Trees needed for flood prevention

Following the latest UN report confirming global warming, an expert appeared on the BBC, to say that one of the preventative measures regarding anticipated future flooding is to plant more trees in the water catchment areas.

Much of the Horsham District is just such an area, but are its councillors listening? A recent trip around the district revealed hundreds of fresh stumps, many of which had been screening eyesores.

Can our councillors really say that they are proud of how much of the district looks now, as compared with when they entered office?

I know this is the year when we should be remembering the First World War, But isn’t a recreation of the Somme landscape going a bit far?
