LETTER: Teaching values to teenagers

Our values are the ideas we hold about what is important and what is not, what is wrong and what is right.

Values are behind all of our beliefs, interests and goals and are in fact, the drive of all our actions. Young people are the next generation of leaders for our society and so they need to uphold the right sets of values in order for them to make right decisions for the society in years to come.

Parents are responsible for instilling the right values in their young teenagers so they can develop a strong moral fibre. This moral fibre will ensure your teenager is successful in their relationships with people, take responsibility for their actions and contribute positively to society.

It goes without saying that parents’ values have the greatest effect on children. Therefore, parents must ensure they possess the right sets of values so that they are a good role model for their teenagers whilst helping them pick and choose which values are worthy parts of their journey to success.

God Bless You
