LETTER: The purpose of the plan framework?
Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, recently stated that 480,000 houses have been built during this Parliament, which represents an average of less than 120,000 per annum, compared with last year’s target of 240,000.
What he also omitted to mention is that, while building on green field land doubled during the same period, the number of houses built did not increase significantly.
Indeed, the only statistics (apart from house prices) that have really gone up, are the share prices of development companies.
Perhaps Mr Pickles can remind us of the purpose of the National Planning Framework and of Localism?
