However, there is an old saying ‘as one door closes another one will open’ and, with this thought in mind, it would be pertinent to consider what opportunities other than the depressing thought of more and more housing leads me to offer up the following possible options:

a) Amalgamate the goods yard industrial estates and area to the Novartis site by transferring the businesses involved to the new Liberty project if North Horsham goes ahead. Obviously HDC would have to offer incentives to the businesses for this to happen.

b) Replace the two sites with a new NHS hospital complete with a A&E services coupled to a centre of sporting excellence including a new athletics track, sports centre and, football stadium complete with a large car park for users of all the facilities along with railway travellers.

The Dorking line railway cuts through the centre of this area and would need an engineering solution to merge the two sites together.

However, I am sure that this sort of infrastructure would entice many folk from far and wide to enjoy the pleasurable experience of coming to Horsham, adding to the general feelgood factor and its prosperity.
