Girlguiding’s Girls’ Attitudes Survey has found that 53% of girls think science/engineering is too hard or complicated, and 35% say it would be difficult to get a job of this kind. The KaBoom weekend aimed to explode these stereotypes as the Brownies explored the Science Museum exhibitions to find out more about science, technology engineering and maths.

The Brownies had the chance to have their very own night in the Museum as they enjoyed a Science Museum sleepover. The girls slept by the Challenge of Materials exhibition, with cars hanging above them, and enjoyed making their own UV torches and space rockets.

The girls couldn’t stop talking about the Science Misadventures show hosted by Fran Scott, they thought it was “absolutely brilliant” and loved the explosions.

Wendy, Leader and organiser of the trip, said “The Brownies had a great time exploring the museum during the day, but the highlight of the trip was sleeping in the Science Museum amongst the exhibits.”
