“It is wonderful that such a fun event can help us to deliver our service in Horsham,” said Sue Jago, director of the Horsham and Crawley branch.

“Problems have a way of piling up – without someone to talk to it can be lonely and stressful. Events like this help us to keep our service going so that our listening volunteers can help to stop distress from spiralling into despair.”

Roz Woods said: “Working at Swan Walk, I was aware that my employer, Jones Lang LaSalle, had chosen to support the Samaritans this year and I felt that I wanted to do something to contribute to this good cause.

“Despite the fact that many golfers were soaked by heavy rain, they enjoyed the event anyway!

“My thanks go to all those local companies and friends who so generously donated fantastic raffle prizes and to everyone who supported this event,” she continued.

“I am absolutely delighted that we raised £840 for the Samaritans.”

Samaritans of Horsham and Crawley are keen to get the message across to the local community that they are there for anyone, at any time.

They will be holding their first local Awareness week in Horsham from Sunday 29th September to Saturday 5th October, involving sports clubs, pubs, schools, churches and businesses to get their message across to as many people as possible.
