Girls talk their way to success

Thanks to the public speaking competition run by the Rotary Club of Horsham, each year students from the local schools have a chance to hone their rhetorical skills.

The event this year was held at Farlington School and the standard was exceptionally high at both intermediate and senior levels.

Topics were challenging - and ranged from the Farlington intermediate team on colonising space to an entertaining take on modern parents from the Millais girls – but all the speakers showed great assurance and put across their points with a combination of humour and passion.

Farlington senior team made their topic of horse ballet informative and enjoyable, and they will proceed to the next round, together with the Farlington intermediate team. All of the participants were offered helpful feedback from the expert speakers, Tony Turner and Mel Leddy, who judged the competition. Credit to the Rotary Club for the effort they put in to promote not only individual presentation skills but also goodwill and cooperation between the local schools.
