Sara David, BBC Sussex and Surrey editor, said: “This is a big thank-you from us to you on behalf of the entire community for being unsung heroes.”

The Henfield group, which raises funds for St. Barnabas hospice in Worthing, organises various fundraising events throughout the year, including carol singing, a Christmas craft event, street collections and a cricket match.

They are currently looking for more supporters, membership having dwindled to 12 from an original 24.
