There were as many as 14 entries in some of the flower classes and the Judge, Eric Norrell, said the standard was excellent yet again and he wanted to thank all those that had made the effort to enter the competition

The society chairman, Charles Ashby, won the major prizes for the best blooms including the best bloom in show which had been grown from one of the free daffodil bulbs the society gave away last autumn.

There were several exhibitors entering the show for the first time and it was really good to see some of them being awarded prizes. Elizabeth Mordue gained a second prize for her flowering shrub and Erica Gaylor was second in the pot plant section.

The cookery was well supported and again new first time exhibitors did exceptionally well. Joanne Peate came first with her Victoria sponge, Jo Fowler was first with her 5 Goats Cheese and Red Pepper muffins and Helen Sweet excelled with her pot of marmalade gaining a first and there were 14 entrants in this section.

The Chairman thanked the Ladies of Steyning Flower Club and the members of Steyning Camera Club for their considerable contribution of staging wonderful exhibits of their work during the afternoon. The Society was also very thankful to the Ladies who made cakes and served the refreshments and all those who helped make the Flower show a very colourful and fun event.
