Christ’s Hospital Choral Society

They meet weekly in the Court Room and are very fortunate to have Andrew Cleary, the Director of Music at Christ’s Hospital, as their conductor.

The choir perform four concerts each year, covering a wide repertoire.

The first concert is in November and will be performed in St Mary’s Church in Horsham. We are commemorating 100 years since the First World War and will be singing pieces by Blatchly, Wilcox, Goodall, some choruses from The Armed Man and Faure’s Requiem.

The Friends of CHASE are invited to provide refreshments to help them raise funds.

In December we will be holding our annual Christmas Concert in Christ’s Hospital Chapel. Members of the local community can come join in with traditional carols while the choir entertains with other Christmas themed songs and readings. The Concert is followed by wine and mince pies – the perfect start to the Christmas season!

As well as rehearsing within the School community, in March we join with the School choirs to perform Carmina Burana. The Choral Society feels it is very important to feel part of the School Community. We also provide bursaries to pupils of the school who wish to attend Choral Schools in the holiday.

Our Summer Concert is usually a lighter repertoire, covering different genres and held in the School Chapel. We were also able to have picnics on the Quad beforehand. The Friends of Chestnut Tree House were invited to come and provide refreshments at this concert to help them raise funds.

As a Choral Society, we are privileged to rehearse with the School Community and have the opportunity to perform with the youngsters. We also thoroughly enjoy performing in the wider community and helping local charities.
