Pupils were involved in all aspects of the event with budding artists invited to design a winning poster to promote the Fair. The competition was sponsored by Fowlers Estate Agents, Billingshurst High Street, for a third consecutive year.

Winners of the poster competition were chosen from each Year Group, with two overall winners selected. The Key Stage 1 winner was Henry Devereux and in Key Stage 2 the winning entry was by Isabella Holland, both delighted artists were presented with Book Tokens to the value of £10 from Fowlers.

All other Year Group winners received an Easter egg and make your own Easter card packs. The winning designs were proudly displayed throughout the school and at Fowlers.

The Spring Fair proved to be bigger and better than ever raising over £1,500 for the school. Enterprising students raised funds by preparing and running stalls of seasonal goodies representing each class.

Back by popular demand, Year 6 pupils served drinks and tasty snacks in the French Cafe, sponsored by Kavanagh’s Budgens. This year the Fair had a ‘maths’ theme to celebrate 2014’s year of marvellous maths at Billingshurst Primary School, which aims to inspire and encourage all pupils.

Helen Williamson, Head Teacher at Billingshurst Primary School comments: “Each year the teaching staff are always impressed by the ingenuity displayed by pupils in generating ideas to raise funds at the Spring Fair.

The children also take great pride in running the stalls and making sure all our visitors have a good afternoon.

Pupils are also involved in promoting the event via the poster competition and we are delighted to be working with Fowlers Estate Agents to encourage the children to express their artistic talents; the winning entries can be seen on display in the school.”

Keith Hutchinson, Manager at Fowlers Estate Agents comments:

“We are very proud to sponsor this competition for the third year in a row. As ever we were extremely impressed with the entries and the creativity of the pupils. It is a fantastic opportunity to work with our local school and support the wider community.”
