Now a major part of the region’s events calendar and attracting thousands of people each year, Arundel by Candlelight 2013 will once again be full of seasonal cheer and encompass the essence of the Christmas season.

In the town square, as the traditional tall Christmas tree shines brightly against the early evening sky, the whole town will once again look magical with shops, restaurants, pubs and houses decorated with Christmas trees and simple white lights.

A Christmas market and festive entertainment will start at 1pm and the main Christmas tree lights will be officially switched on by the Duchess of Norfolk at approximately 4.45pm.

Children are invited to make their own lanterns and then join the candlelit parade from the top of the High Street at 4.15pm.

They can also visit Santa in his grotto and enjoy a ride on a traditional Victorian carousel.

Families will be able walk safely through the town as the roads are closed to traffic (with free parking from 1pm), listening to Christmas carols as the scents of mulled wine, a hog roast and roasted chestnuts fill the air.

The outdoor Christmas market will offer lots of opportunities for picking up the perfect present and Arundel’s many independent shops and galleries will be filled with a fabulous selection of gift ideas. Entertainment will fill the streets, from the traditional sounds of brass bands to more rousing festive tunes performed by steel bands.

The Arundel Barnham & District Lions Club will once again be helping organise Santa’s grotto and raising funds for local charities.

While the Arundel & District Rotary Club will be selling mistletoe to also raise funds for good causes.

This year Arundel by Candlelight is kindly being sponsored by local estate agents, Jackson-Stops & Staff.

The historic market town of Arundel is rapidly becoming the Christmas destination to head for during the festive season!
