No autumn chill at Bognor Museum

The old boiler at the West Street attraction stopped working several months ago.

Faced with an unanticipated bill of £2,400 for a new one, local Rotarians answered a call for help and stepped in to meet half the cost.

Chris Burstow, museum curator, said: “Not only do we need heating for the comfort of our visitors and volunteers, but also to help protect the thousands of artefacts, documents and photographs from the cold and damp.

“In addition, it is a condition of our insurance policy to heat the buiilding.

“We do have a building maintenance fund, but we are already committed to dealing with a damp problem elsewhere in the building.

“This couldn’t have come at a worse time.

“We are extremely grateful to the Rotary Club for their generosity.”
