New transport plan for West Sussex

A new Transport Plan for West Sussex has been approved with the key aim of delivering saferm less congested and less polluted roads during the next decade.

It envisages a countywide concessionary fares scheme to encourage a 'bus culture' among young people that will include college students aged 16-19 as well as thousands of school pupils. It could lead to an extra 338,000 bus journeys a year.

It also includes a pilot scheme to reduce the impact of heavy lorries with items delivered to an out of town location by HGV's before being delivered to participating retailers in smaller vans.
