The Rev Sara-Jane Stevens has been officially welcomed as new priest-in-charge of the parishes of Sullington, Thakeham and Warminghurst at a service at Thakeham church.

The service was led by the Bishop of Horsham, the Right Reverand Mark Sowerby, who welcomed visiting clergy of the diocese, the Archdeacon, The Venerable Fiona Windsor, and family and friends from Sara-Jane’s previous roles in Southampton, Emsworth and Worthing.

In his address Bishop Mark likened the introduction of a new priest to a parish as a marriage and how important it was they grow together as they got to know one another.

He also made special mention of the four churchwardens for the great job they had done in holding the fort and leading the community during the interregnum.

After the service Sara-Jane told churchgoers: “I am really excited to be taking on this important role here in these wonderful parishes. My husband Bob and I have been touched by the warm welcome we have received, and we look forward to getting to know you all as we embark on this journey together.”
