West Sussex County Council is on the look out for a new company to provide Meals on Wheels to 1,000 people across the county.
The contract will start on October 19 for a minimum of five years and will provide an estimated 221,749 meals each year.
Meals on Wheels is currently operated seven days a week by volunteers from the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS).
Chilled, frozen or hot meals are delivered to customers’ doors and volunteers also check the recipient is safe and well.
The charity announced in February it would be unable to continue as the service was costing it “a significant amount of money” every day.
