New academy appoints ‘exceptional’ head

THE SPONSOR of Worthing’s new 900-pupil academy has appointed a head teacher with an ‘exceptional track record’.

Adam Whitehead, of The Weald Community School, in Billingshurst, will take over when the new school opens, in Broadwater Road, Worthing, next year.

He said: “I am delighted to have been given such a wonderful opportunity. After meeting with the senior management of BET, it became very clear we share the same vision for the direction of the school.

“We are now looking forward to welcoming our first intake of students in September next year.”

Mr Whitehead helped The Weald deliver an outstanding Ofsted status for the first time, in October, 2013.

Bohunt Educational Trust (BET) chief executive Neil Strowger added: “Like BET, Adam is committed to bringing innovation that works to the classroom.

“With the deadline for secondary school applications on Friday, his appointment shows how committed we are to bringing exceptional education to young people in Worthing.”
