Neighbours’ shock at arrival of new power sub station

A councillor is taking up concerns of neighbours of the building of a sub station near their homes.

The neighbours took it up with Cllr Richard Bates after a sub-station was established in the area at the rear of South Road and Gower Road in Haywards Heath.

Among the concerns is the appearance of the sub-station.

Mr Bates said that at first there concerns about a hum thought to come from the equipment, but it transpired that the sound from the back of the Co-Op store.

Neighbours want authorities to look at ways of reducing the visual impact of the sub station.

Mr Bates said: “They want it to be screened, at least on the Gower Road side, I was not consulted about this and nor were the residents. Nobody said to them they were going to do this.”
