The Post Office has confirmed its Middleton-On-Sea branch will move to Peters Newsagents, 134 Middleton Road, on September 19.
In a statement the company said: “It will be a modern open-plan ‘local’ style branch with significantly extended opening hours.”
It revealed ‘an open-plan till at the convenience store’s counter’ will provide ‘an extra 18 hours and 30 minutes a week’ and ‘enhanced’ services.
A move it said: “Will make it more convenient for customers.”
The current branch at 155 Middleton Road, will move to the newsagents on September 17 at 5pm, reopening at 1pm on September 19.
During the transfer it suggested using alternative branches such as the Bognor Regis Post Office, High Street, Bognor Regis, PO21 1RG - a branche which is currently in public consultation over a proposed move to WHSmith.
The Post Office stated the relocation is part of a ‘major modernisation programme’ across its network ‘designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments’.
Will Russell, regional manager said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents. We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”
