“It was reported at around 7.45am on Wednesday, December 23, and has led to several roads feeding into the Portfield roundabout east of the city centre being closed.

“The motorcyclist is reported to have sustained serious injuries.”

Sergeant Neil Cox, of the road policing unit, added: “Unfortunately the road closures are likely to be in place for at least a couple of hours.

“We’d advise drivers to avoid the area and seek alternative routes, as traffic delays are building.”
