PLANS for a new Morrisons in Shoreham go on public display tomorrow (Friday, May 10).

The exhibition will detail plans to redevelop the Frosts Garage and Minelco chemical works in Brighton Road, as part of the public consultation prior to plans being submitted to Adur District Council.

Development company Quora and supermarket operator Morrisons are keen to hear the views of the local community on their plans, which they have been preparing for the last year.

David Bevan, speaking on behalf of Morrisons, said: “We really do hope lots of people come and see these exciting plans.

“We are committed to delivering a high-quality scheme that brings new retail opportunities to the Shoreham.

“Our site is a significant part of the wider harbour regeneration plans and we are delighted to be playing an active part in helping to transform Brighton Road.

“I’d ask local people to come along, see the plans and let us know what they think about them.

“This consultation event is an important staging post in our planning process.”

The proposal is for the redevelopment of Frosts garage and the former Minelco chemical works to deliver a mixed-use development of retail, anchored by a 37,000 sq ft Morrisons supermarket, new homes, smaller retail, commercial space and significant improvements to the public realm.

The plans represent a major multi million pound investment in the town and significant local job creation of around 400.

Residents are invited to go along and see the plans at the Shoreham Centre, in Pond Road, on Friday between 1am and 8pm, or Saturday between 10am and 3pm.

It is described as “a very informal ‘drop in’ event” and the development team will be on hand to discuss the plans and answer questions.
