More than 900 Midhurst homes affected by power outage

More than 900 homes in West Lavington, Midhurst have been affected by a power outage that began last night (Saturday, March 28).

Scottish and Southern Electricity Network engineers were alerted to reports of a a fault on the high voltage electricity network serving West Lavington, Midhurst at 8.56pm yesterday evening.

The fault initially affected 966 properties in the area with the majority of properties having their power supply back by 4am today.

A spokesperson from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), said: "We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused as our engineers worked throughout the night to restore power supplies as quickly as possible."

The power cut was caused by a fault on the underground cable network which SSE engineers will locate and repair, the company said, adding that its first priority is to restore power to customers 'as quickly as possible'.

SSE teams also contacted customers on its 'Priority Services Register' to check on their welfare and customers remaining off supply were offered breakfast vouchers.
