More big events to come for Adur Festival

ADUR Festival continues until Sunday, June 8.

Big events coming up include the Military History Weekend at Shoreham Fort on June 7 and 8.

Experience re-enactments from every period of the fort’s history between 1857 and 1945 at the annual extravaganza.

Events run from 11am to 4.30pm each day and entry to the fort, off Fort Haven, on Shoreham Beach, is free.

Friends of Shoreham Fort will help bring history to life and there will be several groups displaying throughout the day.

Children will also have the chance to see what it was like to be a soldier in a unique parade, run by Friends chairman Gary Baines.

On Sunday, June 8, Adur East Lions Club is hold its annual donkey derby and classic vehicle rally.

This fun-filled day for all the family, in Buckingham Park, Shoreham, from 11.30am to 5pm, includes donkey rides, birds of prey, stalls, a fun fair and strange creature competition.

There will be entertainment from Shoreham Allstars, cheerleaders and Beach Bateria samba band, as well as a karate display and other attractions. Entry is free.

Also in Buckingham Park on June 8, Southwick Camera Club is holding an exhibition of members’ photos, including strage creatures to fit in with the theme of the festival, from 11am to 5pm. The club also has art on show at Carats Café Bar in Southwick.

Other events include comedy, music, art, walks and a poetry trail.
