About 500 vehicles took part in the annual event, which is open to vehicles built before 1905.

A few cars struggled to make it up Clayton Hill and needed a tug from a Landrover but once at the top it was a gentle slope down to the A23 and Brighton seafront.

The popular event was originally launched to celebrate a change in the law, which allowed vehicles to go faster than four miles per hour.
