Man sought after spate of burglaries

POLICE believe one man raided three separate premises and targeted two more in Shoreham.

The series of incidents last weekend included four homes and a dentists.

Detective Constable Jane Mills said: “The man appears to have spent some time in Shoreham committing offences and looking for opportunities to steal.”

Officers believe one man could have broken into two homes and a dentists, as well as being seen acting suspiciously outside two more addresses.

The first incident reported was at 3.20pm last Sunday, when a resident saw a man walking towards her open front door in East Street. She challenged him and the man left.

At about the same time, a man walked into Shoreham Oral Care in East Street and stole a wallet.

Then at 4.15pm, a man was seen looking through the windows of homes in Middle Street, until he was disturbed by a resident.

A house in Church Street was broken into while the owner was away, between 1.30pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday, although it is not believed anything was taken.

The fifth incident reported on Sunday saw an intruder sneak into a home in High Street between midday and 6pm.

The man climbed in through an open window and stole hundreds of pounds while the resident was in another part of the property.

Sussex Police said the man believed to be involved in all of the incidents was described as white, aged 20 to 35, 5ft 7in to 5ft 10in tall and of average build. He had dark short brown hair and was wearing casual clothing.

DC Mills said: “If you saw anyone fitting the description of the man or anyone acting suspiciously around Shoreham that weekend, please contact us.”
