A man was taken to hospital with facial injuries after being attacked on his own doorstep.

The victim, who is in his 40s, was at his home in Lismore Crescent, Broadfield, when he answered a knock at his door. When he opened the door, he was punched in the face by a man holding a knuckleduster and threatened with what is believed to be a knife, Sussex Police said.

The attacker ran away following the assault on June 20 at around 7.15pm.

Two e-fits have been created of the man wanted over the attack (pictured). He is described as white, about 5ft 10ins and muscular with a shaven head.

He was wearing blue jeans and a grey jacket. The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for facial injuries. Detective Constable John Hord, of Crawley CID, said: “This appears to have been a targeted attack where the suspect asked for the victim by name. Nonetheless, it was a totally unprovoked and violent attack where the victim was fortunate not to suffer more serious injuries.

“The two e-fits are of the same man and I am confident that someone will be able to identify him.”
