And at the end of the series we will be holding a competition for a half case of wine, worth £80.

The series follows Neil and John and they make their own limited edition Hunter Valley Semillon wine, having partnered under the McGuigan Torode name.

It’s a natural partnership as both John and Neil grew up in the same part of Hunter Valley, a small town of Maitland and each share a passion for wanting people to understand the relationship between food and wine and why they work together.

The episodes encapsulate every part of the winemaking process, from grape picking, crushing and de-stemming, fermentation, free run pressing, maturation, blending, labelling, tasting and finally delivery, taking the viewer on a journey from Vine to Glass over a ten part series, filmed at Australian wine producer, McGuigan Wines’ Hunter Valley vineyard.

Commented John Torode: “I have partnered with Neil McGuigan for a few years now, and I have always enjoyed working with him – not just because we are both from the same small town of Maitland in the Hunter Valley, but because we both share a love of creating great food and wine matches for people to enjoy.

“I started the Vine to Glass project because I wanted people to understand the relationship between food and wine and why they work together, so when Neil approached me to see if I would be interested in producing a special wine with him I jumped at the chance. It was great to have the chance to be immersed in this world and I am so excited by the end result.”

Neil McGuigan added: “As a winemaker, I am always looking for ways to do things differently and take my wines to another level. I love wine and John loves food, and he has a great palate, so I wanted to make a wine with him, using his expertise. So we immersed him in the winemaking world at McGuigan to develop our own special wine. Our McGuigan Torode Semillon is a wine that matches a whole new range of food and that has been the most exciting thing about it.”

McGuigan Wines has a long and impressive winemaking heritage and is one of the most awarded wineries in the world winning IWSC International winemaker of the year an unprecedented three times in 2009, 2011 and 2012 as well as IWC White winemaker of the year in 2009, 2012 and again in 2013.
