The group started at the Bognor Regis craft shop, since closed, and has been meeting for the last five years. On Fridays they meet at the Laburnum Centre and on Wednesdays they meet at the library in London Road.

As well as being a social group, they also raise money for charity by knitting baby hats, cardigans, blankets and jumpers. One of their specialties is “twiddle muffs” which are used as therapy by people with dementia. These are tactile knitted objects containing a variety of buttons and other sewn-on items that can be touched and played with.

Nick Gibb said: “I was delighted to meet this group of ladies with their passion for knitting - using their talent and skill to raise money for good causes as well as the chance for good conversation.”
