George Kay, 36, was arrested following an alleged bust-up at the couple’s home in Crowborough, East Sussex, on September 19.

He was charged by Sussex Police with assault by beating and possessing a banned weapon, relating to a Taser-style instrument which was disguised.

Former I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and Celebrity Big Brother contestant Katona, 35, who married ex-rugby league player Kay in 2014, is likely to give evidence in the case.

Judge David Rennie freed Kay on bail on condition that he does not contact Katona except via an agreed third party, and does not enter Crowborough.

Asked whether he could go to Crowborough to get his hair cut, the judge replied: “No, that’s slightly daft. You can get your hair cut somewhere else.”
