It's a pirate's life for Shoreham College pupils

YO HO HO, it was a pirate's life for Shoreham College pupils as they set sail their boats on the '˜ocean waves'.

As part of their topic on Seas and Oceans, the children in years one and two were invited to go into the school, in St Julian’s Lane, dressed as a pirate for the day.

Teacher Miss Frost said they had been learning about pirates for two weeks, so this provided an excellent opportunity to celebrate their work.

The children had written pirate stories, made journey maps around the world and created fact files on famous pirates.

Miss Frost added: “They particularly enjoyed testing their pirate ships to see if they would float in the school swimming pool. ‘

“The children put in a great effort dressing up and included accessories such as swords, hooks, hats and even chest hair. They all looked fantastic.”

Pupil Max Lambie said he enjoyed playing pirates, William Moore liked floating the boats and Grace Nott’s favourite was the fun pirate maths.

Frankie Sallis enjoyed making pirate pictures in computing.
