The Town Centre Initiative has organised a wide range of family-friendly entertainment between 11am and 4pm, including a visit from Santa and Aladdin star Wishy Washy.

The temporary covered ice rink is also starting to take shape in Steyne Gardens, which will also host a Christmas market event in the festive season weekends.

Bryan Turner, Worthing Borough Council cabinet member for regeneration, said the town was the place to be this Christmas.

He said: “Worthing’s not just a great place to visit in the summer, as there is lots going on in the winter months too.

“There’s theatre entertainment for all, interesting shopping, fabulous eating places and what’s more, you can park from just £1 an hour in our multi-storey car parks.”

The ice rink’s outer structure was quickly installed this week, with the attraction set to open on Friday, November 28, to Sunday, March 1.

The three-month period will be longest time the rink has been open in its history.

The market, launched by Southern Pavilion businessman Phil Duckett, in conjunction with Bartie’s Boutique, will be open on weekends between the time the rink opens and Sunday, December 21.
