Hurstpierpoint College student killed on railway line at Burgess Hill

THE teenager who died after being electrocuted at Burgess Hill railway station early on New Years Day has been identified as Sam Griffiths (16), a student at Hurstpierpoint College.

He died after he slipped and fell on to the live rail at Burgess Hill railway station.

British Transport Police Chief Inspector Alison Palmer said it appeared Sam, whose home was in West London, had been trespassing on the line when the incident happened.

"This would appear to have been a tragic accident. Sam was with a group of friends at the station around 1.30am and it appears he was trespassing on the tracks when he tripped and fell onto the live rail."
