Horsham Sherlock family feature in Pathe newsreel archives

Fascinating archival footage from recently released newsreels includes an off-beat Dr Who report from the back garden of a Horsham home in the late 1960s.

British Pathe is arguably the world’s leading multi-media resource with a history stretching back over a century.

It has made thousands of films available on the British Pathe YouTube channel.

These include a home-made Dalek plus robot and rocket in the back garden of the Sherlock family home in Horsham, which was filmed in 1967.

The newsreel features dad Victor Sherlock and young Peter Sherlock.

The Pathe website features a number of news clips or videos (without sound) from the Horsham area.

Among them, you can see acid bath murderer George Haigh arriving at Horsham Town Hall in 1949.
