Horsham school celebrates pupils' achievements at awards evening

Joining them was Guest of Honour, Siobhan Denning, who was Headteacher from April 2007 until summer this year.

Chair of Governors, Cliff Purvis, congratulated the young men on their outstanding achievements and offered them some words of wisdom as they move on to the next stage of their education and careers.

Parents, staff, governors and friends were there to celebrate the GCSE success of all the boys and to see trophies and prizes awarded to those who had attained particular achievements across the curriculum as well as community and special whole school awards.

Highlights of the evening included the maximum of four awards being presented to Joshua Martin, Murphy Arliss and Linden Graves and three awards going to Douglas Moore-Loizides, Josh Cooper and Thomas Clark.

Thomas was also presented with The University of Brighton Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement for his superb exam results.

Gareth Good, Senior Assistant Headteacher, said: “Every year we have a high number of boys who achieve exceptional GCSE and higher level exam results but Thomas truly deserved this accolade achieving five of the new top grade 9s and five other grades at 8 or A.”

The Awards Evening also recognises those pupils who make exceptional progress, and the Frank Newby Award for outstanding progress went to Piran Shoebridge, the school explained.

Headteacher Ian Straw said of the evening: “It was a lovely, joyous event.

‘‘I was so proud; it is such a special occasion where the school community can celebrate every student’s achievements.”

He went on to add: “These young men will always be Forest boys; we wish all of them the very best for their futures.”
