As part of their fundraising programme, they both took to the skies and completed a skydiving challenge.

Emma, 21, said: “I know one of the heads of the charity and she told me all about it. I think it will be a life experience to help the kids out there. They are pretty amazing.

“It’s quite poor accommodation.”

Jasmine, 20, whose mum is one of the Coco’s Foundation trustees, said: “My mum is building a house next year in memory of her brother.

“She chose this family because one of the sons committed suicide. That’s motivated me to go this year. It really moved me last year. They don’t have any parents. The children lead the household.

“There are big communities, but they still have to live and survive by themselves. When we went last year the girl we built a house for was 15 with two younger siblings.

“The boy who killed himself was in his late teens. Hopefully this will help them.”

Coco’s Foundation is the brainchild of hairdresser Ed Purdew and his friend and employer Chris Connors, director of Coco’s Hair Salons in Southwater, Billingshurst and Crawley.

Ed told Chris that he wanted to work with children in Africa and gradually over five years, they have expanded to help build homes, provide food, clothes and clean water to child headed families in the poorer areas South Africa.
