Horsham MP Francis Maude claimed more than £800 on expenses for his energy bills, it has been reported.

It has been revealed as part of Telegraph research which reports 340 MPs have claimed £200,000 for energy bills at their second homes.

The MPs’ utility bills expenses are disclosed in documents submitted to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority between April 2012 and March 2013, says the report.

MPs are allowed to claim for gas, electricity and oil for their second homes.

But the news comes at a time when many are struggling with the rising cost of energy as price rise by four of the big six energy firms.
