Horsham guides leader raising funds for Andes trek

The leader of a Horsham guides group is preparing for the challenge of a lifetime to raise funds for Girlguiding.

Tracey Miller who is a leader with 1st Holbrook Guides and Trustee Treasurer for Girlguiding London and South East Region is trekking to Machu Picchu over 4,200 meters high in the Andes in Peru.

Tracey will be joined by over 25 other Girlguiding members and supporters on the trip taking place in October. The challenging trek will take in the well known landmarks Dead Women’s Pass and the Sun Gate.

Tracey said: “I’ve decided to take on this challenge for Girlguiding because I want to give more girls and young women the chance to experience the fantastic opportunities available to them at Girlguiding and to encourage other adults to join the fun and volunteer.

“I’m most looking forward to seeing Machu Picchu then soaking my aching limbs in the hot waters at Agua Caliente after a very long hike.”

She is aiming to raise £4,000 for Girlguiding to support 50 disabled girls and young women to attend a camp with their friends, along with their carer or buddy, through our Fund for Members with Disabilities.
