Horsham council to protest at development

Horsham District Council is to protest to the Government Office for the South East and the Deputy Prime Minister about the level of development proposed through the emerging South East Plan.

The decision was made last week when the council agreed the recommendations made in the Horsham District Local Development Framework (LDF) with one amendment.

The public speaking arrangements were extended at the meeting, which was attended by 100 members of the public; some in the council chamber, others watching via an audiovisual link.

The amendment to one of the LDF documents was carried at the meeting when it was agreed that land west of Southwater (reserve site for a secondary school) should be removed from the Site Specific Allocations of Land document.

It was also agreed that a cross-party delegation should meet with the Government Office (South East) and the Deputy Prime Minister to put forward the council's case on the level of development being proposed in the District through the emerging South East Plan.
