Heroes Day at The Weald School

Students at The Weald School in Billingshurst entered into the spirit of Children in Need on Friday November 14 when they held their ‘Heroes Day’ in aid of the charity.

They had the option of either coming in non-uniform, or dressed as their hero. M

any students took the opportunity to really dress up. Year 11 student, Ronnie Geddes, came as Banana Man, not knowing that his German teacher, Debbie McInerney, had come as Banana Woman.

Headteacher Peter Woodman commented: “We had some marvellous hero efforts. Ronnie came to see me at break time in my office dressed as Banana Man, complete with banana.

“He had heard that there was a prize for the best dressed Hero student. In fact this was not the case, but it seemed such a good idea that we decided there should be one.”

The best dressed students posed for a photograph along with Batman, Spiderman, a character from Despicable Me, Wylie Coyote and many others. We will feature them all as part of our next school newsletter. Nearly £2,000 was raised by students for Children in Need on the day.
