Henfield gardens on display for weekend of family fun

Henfield residents will be opening up their gardens to the public for the 16th annual Festival of Gardens and Arts this weekend.

This year will see gardens with beautiful displays, arts and crafts activities, live music and homemade food.

All venues are identified by light blue signs, which are listed in a blue comprehensive guide booklet, available from many outlets in Henfield and the surrounding villages.

The revamped guide gives full details of all venues, times of music performances and a centre spread map showing all the locations.

Local artists will be exhibiting their paintings, photography, ceramics, glass sculptures, jewellery, wood crafts and pottery.

The Henfield Miniature Project Group will be showing off their panorama at Maidment Court.

Also, opening for the first time as part of the festival are museums, Henfield Hall and Henfield Haven, as well as The Henfield Club, St Peter’s Primary School and local the churches.

The music scene over the weekend will see Morris dancing, folk groups, choirs, jazz, rock and brass bands.

Those looking to embrace their musical side can try their hand at handbell ringing or playing the guitar.

Entrance to all venues is free, but donations will go towards the Henfield scout hut appeal to help rebuild the deteriorating hut of the oldest scout group in the world.

Pop along this weekend, June 13 and June 14.
