The service, based in Liverpool Gardens, Worthing, is available to anyone who has a temporary or permanent mobility problem.

Martine Walters, trustee, said: “You will always get a very warm welcome at Worthing Shopmobility. We have a fabulous team of volunteers who provide an excellent service.

“We are looking for volunteers for regular shifts, or to provide holiday and sickness cover, either working behind the desk welcoming customers and answering telephone queries, or maintaining our scooters.

“We even have portable scooters which fold down to fit in the boot of a car if you are going on a day trip or need a scooter for a holiday.”

You do not have to be a Blue Badge holder or registered disabled to access the service and hires can be arranged hourly, daily or longer term. Volunteers are even able to deliver in the area but charges apply.

Martine pointed out: “You do not have to be a member of Shopmobility and one-off hires are welcomed.

“If you decide to join Worthing Shopmobilty as a member, you will enjoy a competitive rate at Worthing, Bognor and Littlehampton Shopmobility.”

There are designated parking spaces adjacent to the centre and a member of the team will always bring your scooter to your parking space. Disabled toilet facilities are also available.

You will find Worthing Shopmobility behind TX Maxx in the Montague Quarter Car Park. Telephone 01903 820980 to enquire about hiring a mobility scooter or becoming a volunteer.
