Haywards Heath Register Office move date

Haywards Heath Register Office is moving next Thursday (October 24).

It will close at Mid Sussex District Council offices in Oaklands Road, and re-open just 100 metres away at Haywards Heath Library in Boltro Road.

The move means the Register Office will be out of action on Thursday and Friday, but will be open for business in the Library the following Monday.

Services at the Library will be unaffected while the move takes place.

The library’s public computer network is being relocated within the library to allow two offices for the Registration Service to be built, and accessibility for wheelchairs and pushchairs is being improved.

On-street parking will still be available to customers.

“It makes financial sense to get the best use out of our own buildings, and we are taking the opportunity to make better use of space in the library,” explained Lionel Barnard, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member who oversees both the Library and Registration services.

“It means there will be more services under one roof, which will benefit residents. Both teams of staff are looking forward to working together.”

The re-sited Register Office will open and close half an hour later, to match library hours and offer customers the option of later appointments. It will operate between 9.30am and 5.30pm

It is possible to register a birth or death or give notice of marriage anywhere in the County, so although the Haywards Heath office will be closed for two days, registrations can still take place at any other office in the county. Appointments can be booked online at wscc.gov.uk or by telephoning 01243 642122.
