“Steyning had previously won the trophy in 2012 and in 2013, shared the honour with Chichester Camera Club after coming joint first.”

Marcus Scott-Taggart, from the Surrey Photographic Association, judged the event and as each round progressed, Steyning moved up the order, until the club was one point behind Chichester after the penultimate round.

Mr Williams said: “The final round sealed success as we overtook Chichester and were judged first with 108 points, two clear of Chichester.”

Bognor Regis Camera Club finished third with 105 points.

Mr Williams added: “Steyning, although a small country town, has a vibrant camera club with some great photographers who are very competitive.

“We really enjoy our photography and have a strong social element and are keen to help new members improve their skills. I am very proud to be the club’s chairman, and to receive the trophy for the third successive year was a great thrill.”

Steyning Camera Club meets from September to May at Upper Beeding Village Hall on Wednesday and Thursdays at 7.30pm. Visit www.steyningcc.org.uk for more information.
