Grants available in Community Chest

IT'S TIME to say '˜Cheers!' once again as the lid of the West Sussex Community Chest is raised to reveal a stash of cash which could help volunteer organisations, charities and community groups across the area with their vital work.

The groups are now being encouraged to claim a share of £15,000 following the launch of the 2011 Hall and Woodhouse West Sussex Community Chest.

The brewer and owner of a string of pubs across the county runs the scheme in conjunction with Sussex Newspapers and spiritfm.

Grants for between £300 and £3,000 can be requested for the funding of equipment, transport, training, furniture, professional assistance, and specific project resources.

To apply download the form (see external links, right) and fill it in and return to Hall and Woodhouse by May 2, 2011.

Launching this year’s fund, Mark Woodhouse, Hall and Woodhouse chairman and the driving force behind the Community Chest, said he ‘passionately believes a company cannot succeed without the support of its community’ and that he is ‘absolutely delighted’ therefore to launch the fourth annual West Sussex Community Chest.

The West Sussex Gazette and its sister titles, has been a media partner of the scheme here since it first launched, along with local radio station Spirit FM.

West Sussex Gazette editor in chief Gary Shipton said: “Once again we are delighted to work with Hall and Woodhouse, particularly in these straitened economic times. The Community Chest plays a vital role in assisting community projects in West Sussex for the benefit of all.”

So it just remains to say, cheers to all the pubs and their regulars who support the Community Chest.

The closing date for applications is May 2, 2011.

The application form and further information is also available at www.hall-woodhouse.co.uk.
