The Earnley Fête was launched last year following the adoption of the Parish Plan and residents’ calls for more community involvement.

Chairman Keith Martin will open the fête at Earnley Grange, Almodington Lane, Almodington, on Saturday at 2pm. It will be raising money for the RNLI, St Wilfrid’s Hospice and Earnley Church.

Entrance to the fete will be 50p per adult, however one of the main attractions is Earnley Grange’s beautiful garden, which will be open for an additional donation.

Although the garden has been neglected in the past, the owners have been working for the past two years to restore it to its former glory.

This private garden is rarely open to the public and it proved very popular last year. The progress in the restoration work since then has been amazing.

Mr Martin said: “We are very grateful to Celia and Ian Parker for providing the community with such an amazing location to hold its fête, which will raise funds for worthwhile local charites and continue to build a stronger community.

“We are very grateful to all our volunteers as without them we could not run this wonderful event.”

The council decided to organise the fête following consultation with the residents as part of the Parish Plan. People said they enjoyed living in a rural area but would like to see more community involvement and the inaugural fête last year proved very popular.

Artist Michael Frith has donated signed prints for the raffle.
