Going quackers over the duck race

NEVER mind the boat race, it was all about the ducks on the River Adur over the Easter weekend.

Adur Outdoor Activities Centre Open Weekend proved a great success, despite the cold weather, with the Easter Bunny visiting on Sunday to hand out eggs to youngersters.

The Duck Race saw 300 yellow ducks bobbing their way up river to the finishing line.

Centre administrator Rosie Chessell said: “There was quite a crowd on the bank cheering them on but lucky Macy Cowdrey, six, was the winner of the race and was presented with an egg-credible Easter hamper by AOAC chairman John Haffenden.

“MP Tim Loughton also came down to show his support, although he was a little reluctant to scale the 10m indoor climbing wall!”

Some 250 people enjoyed sampling the activities, including climbing, archery, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and cycle skills.
