Funeral of Alexandra Bastedo takes place in Storrington

The funeral of the late actress and animal welfare activist Alexandra Bastedo took place on Saturday (January 25).

West Chiltington resident Bastedo lost her battle with cancer earlier this month, aged 67.

Celebrities such as Virginia McKenna OBE, the actress and founder of charity the Born Free Foundation, attended the funeral at St Mary’s Church in Storrington, to pay their respects.

Bastedo launched ABC Champions Animal Sanctuary more than 30 years ago, and was a regular columnist for the West Sussex County Times and West Sussex Gazette.

She had previously starred in ITV’s The Champions.
