“Comfort for both volunteer drivers, we have over 40, and passengers is essential and the new vehicle will provide that.”

The scheme, which has been running for over eight years, was awarded the new VW Caddy Maxi, after Ken applied to the council for developer gain money.

Ken said: “A majority of our 5000 journeys a year are for medical purposes and we visit three surgeries and over 20 hospitals in any given year.”

With more than 500 registered users, the scheme is always looking to further their coverage in the communities surrounding Billingshurst.
