SHOREHAM Football Club gave away football boots and other equipment during its last home game of the season.
The club offers a community donation service and kept to its promise by giving away football boots, kit and footballs to children on Saturday.
A free coaching session was also held at the Middle Road ground the same day.
Chairman Stuart Slaney said: “It was such a pleasure to give something back to the community after the club’s long absence for offering a truly community-based football club.
“When I took over the running of the club, my aim was to get the club more involved in our community. For a long time, the club had lost its community identity and one of my main focuses was to turn this around and get the local residents back at the club once more.
“Offering free soccer equipment and free soccer coaching sessions to local children is only the start of things. I am hoping to bring regular monthly free coaching sessions, regular football boot give aways, introducing more children’s football teams, including girls teams, and community events at the club.”
He is hoping the new events and services will encourage families to go to as many home matches as possible.
He added: “By the residents supporting us, we can keep offering all our great free services and events to the community.”
